The first fall ball softball game was to be played last Saturday.  The women softball players were to open their season against Seton Hill.

Fall ball season’s goal is to compete before the regular spring season begins.

With few upperclassmen, the Pitt-Johnstown team leaders hope to get players more experience through the fall ball season.

Freshman catcher Kelsey Feeney said, “Fall ball will help the team develop early.”

“The more games we play, the faster we will work together as a team,” said Feeney.

She described how she feels about having such a young team.

“I want to use this fall ball season to adapt to collegiate softball. That way, when the regular season comes, I am ready, as well as all the other freshmen.”

Junior second baseman Amber Maurer agreed.

“It helps us get a chance to know each other on the field and learn each other’s strengths and weaknesses.”

Having coached on a collegiate level for over 10 years, second-year head coach Sabrina Lane hopes to continue building the softball program.

“Participating in the fall ball season is going to have a positive effect on the team,” Lane said.

“We have a good group of girls with a lot of talent. It comes down to how well we put the talent together.”

The outcome of the two games Saturday were both losses.
